One for the freezer

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on One for the freezer

Of course in an ideal world I would cook everything from scratch but in the real world, I do not always have the time so I’m always on the look out for nice and easy dinners that I can keep in the freezer for when I’m short on time and in need of something simple. …

Hello everyone 🙂 I am back in the land of blogging and I intend to stay! I must apologise to my regular readers for disappearing and not explaining my absence. I feel very bad and I also realise that it was not a good start to a fairly new blog. I fell ill with my …

My weekly round up 21/07/13 – 27/07/13

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on My weekly round up 21/07/13 – 27/07/13

The early part of this week was spent on preparing for the summer holidays. Now that we are in the summer holidays I thought that I would write a day by day account with a few photos to give you a clear idea of how we spend our summer holidays. Day one – Wednesday 24th …

Potato printing

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on Potato printing

Sometimes in life, it’s the good old simple ideas that really are the best!Yesterday we decided to do some painting so we got everything out only to find that we did not have any paint brushes (due to the older two taking them and then not putting them back!) so as I had some potatoes that …

Today is the children’s last day at school before the holidays, so at 3pm today it is officially the start of the summer holidays!! Things have been quite serious at home for quite a while now due to my health issues and other family problems so I am determined to make the next 6 weeks …

The importance of meal planning.

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on The importance of meal planning.

I think that it is really important to plan your main meals each week in advance for a number of reasons. To start with, it stops you standing in your kitchen with hungry children wondering what on earth you are going to make each night. It can save you money as you know what you …

My weekly round up 14/7/13 – 20/7/13

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on My weekly round up 14/7/13 – 20/7/13

My top 3 highlights of the week. * Attending FJ’s first ever sports day.* Winning another competition!* Giving the girls their week one summer holiday booklet. Attending FJ’s first ever sports day last Monday was a very special mummy moment and for once we actually had lovely weather. I suppose if anything, it was a bit too …

Summer record sheets.

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on Summer record sheets.

This is an idea I had when my older two girls were little and we have done it ever since and it’s so simple to do! Every summer holiday I get a sheet of plain A4 paper and write on the top ‘Summer record sheet’. I then draw a line for them to write in …

Summer holiday booklets.

by Denise Johnsonon Leave a Comment on Summer holiday booklets.

Every year, once I have planned my summer holidays I make summer holiday booklets for each of my children. Now, these may not be for everyone as they do take a bit of time to make and they really only suit the parents that like to be super organised and those that like a lot …

  • On a hot day like today, I wish I was in my happy place! The jacuzzi on the rooftop bar in Salou. Always makes me smile when I think of the memories from our trips to Spain. ⁣

  • Last Saturday I started WW. Not because I am ashamed of how I look. I actually feel the best I ever have in terms of confidence and love for myself. I joined because I have gained even more weight since my diagnosis as it's been about 8 months of not being able to move very much at all due to recovering from the two surgeries and then the chemo. I didn't get any sickness either so I still had my appetite. ⁣
⁣
I do not want to beat cancer only to have a heart attack a year later from my size so I need to get healthier. I do not think that I will ever be skinny. My body is not built for it and I like my food too much but losing a few stones will make a big difference to my health and my chances of living longer. So wish me luck!⁣

  • This is me trying to keep the Spanish sun off my skin! The chemo makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so I was using factor 50, under a parasol, with a t-shirt and a big floppy hat!
Some people probably wondered what on earth I was doing but I didn't care as I had the best time while away!

  • Our 2022 holiday to Salou.

We had such an amazing time, just the two of us. It was so needed after everything that we have been through. We relaxed, talked, ate way too much food and just enjoyed being us without the drama of life.

We love Salou. We first visited Salou for our honeymoon, nearly 20 years ago now. We then went back with the kids and they fell in love with the place as well. It is a great place to visit as a family but also great for couples too. It is also great value compared to other resorts in Spain.
