My August 2018

For us, August has mostly been a month of relaxing. FJ is now of the age where she is greatly in demand, so has spent a lot of time sleeping over at her friend’s houses and going on day trips with her grandad. When she has been at home we have mostly been watching movies, playing Minecraft and visiting family.mum and daughter selfie smiling

I know that I say it all the time, but I just cannot believe how fast these summer holidays have flown by! It is strange getting used to the new changes which come from having no young children to entertain. The last time I felt like this we tried for another child and along came FJ! This time we will not be adding any more children to our family, instead, I need to focus on myself.

FJ is only ten so she still needs my time and attention and it will still be many years before we have a completely empty nest. However, the days of having completely dependent children who take up all of my time and energy have now passed, so I need to find other ways to fill my time.

It was the only BBQ that we have had this year which is unusual for us as we normally have a few throughout the summer. It was a lovely day but unfortunately, the weather was not as good as it had been so we ended up eating in the living room.

I’m afraid that is all of our news for this month as it has not really been very eventful! I think it has been the calm before the storm as so much is planned for the next few months, things are going to get really busy!

How was your August? Have you been busy or have you taken time out to relax like we did? I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Hi, it's lovely when the children are a little more independent. This is my first year without having a child at school and I am looking forward to it and the extra time I hope to find myself with. I hope you enjoy your extra time (how can you not?)... Just one barbecue all summer? That's not right! Summer is for barbecues, even if it is raining... Our summer months are when we work all hours, so August is never nice. In fact, it's my least favourite month of the year. Roll on November when we take deep breaths and light up the barbecue whatever the weather. Thank you for stopping by and linking up with #keepingitreal xx
