Chemo care package review

The lovely people from Cancer Care Parcel sent me a chemo care package to review. Although I was gifted the item, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I was sent the deluxe comfort care package for chemo patients.

Having recently been through chemo to treat breast cancer, I have an insight into what is useful. The box arrived well packaged and all items were in good condition and well packed.

What’s inside the box?

The first item I took out of the box was the blanket. It is so big and soft, it looks like a really good quality blanket and would be perfect for snuggling up with, either at home or in the hospital while having your chemo.

Next was the neck pillow. Great for comfort while having treatment and also while travelling in the car.

The lunch bag and water bottle are great for taking to the hospital for those appointments that go through lunch. Not everyone has much of an appetite but then it is even more important to stay hydrated. I kept my appetite though!

Also included are a bag of ginger chews and a box of peppermint tea bags. Ginger is well known for helping to alleviate nausea and peppermint is great for getting rid of any nasty taste in your mouth that the treatment can cause. The lip balm is fantastic. During my chemo, my lips would get so dry, so a soothing lip balm would really help.

Thermal socks for keeping your feet warm in bed are another great idea. As someone who normally always has hot feet, it felt really strange to have freezing feet as a side effect from one of the chemo drugs. Magic gloves are the one size fits all type of glove and are perfect for those who have cold hands. As is the blue handwarmer. It is one of those kinds where you click the mental component to activate.

The anti-nausea wristbands are great for those who are struggling with nausea which can be a common side effect of chemo.

I loved the mindfulness colouring book and coloured pencils. Not only can it relieve stress, but it can also relieve boredom too!

Finally, there are a pair of earphones. Great to have a spare pair so that you can keep them in your bag that you use for the hospital. Then you can listen to music and drown out the loudness of the ward.

Final thoughts

I was super impressed with my chemo care package. All of the items look like a lot of thought has gone into putting the parcel together to make sure that the items will really help someone experiencing chemotherapy. Cancer Care Parcel do lots of other packages and products, so you are sure to see something you like for yourself or if you are buying for a friend or relative.
